Mason Mount has said that he is ‘very happy’ at Chelsea amid ongoing talks of a contract extension at Stamford Bridge. The 23-year-old midfielder has recently entered the final two years of his deal, and it’s believed that negotiations over a new deal have begun. According to The Telegraph, there is an expectation that Mount will pen a new contract with the Blues, but ‘it could take time’. The report states that talks between the two parties began over the summer, but there is no agreement as of yet. Having been caught off guard, the Cobham graduate was at a loss for words.

Mason Mount replied: “I dunno… The money is… I’ve always obviously been a Chelsea boy. I’m very, very happy here. We’ve been winning some silverware, which is a big goal of mine, I always want to win things.”

Speaking to football.london in the summer, Mount revealed his hope to extend his future at Chelsea amid the change of ownership. The midfielder detailed co-owner Boehly’s plans.

Mason Mount said: “After the last game of the season, we had a little get-together at the hotel, and he was there with the rest of the consortium, it was good to meet them in person and speak to them all. It’s so exciting what the future holds. It’s an unknown, but the way it’s started is really exciting to see what’s going to happen. We’re a team that, over the last ten years, has been up there and pushing, and that is where we want to stay. Speaking to them about their goals and aims, we’re on the same page. So hopefully, that continues. I’ve got two years left on my contract, and I’m very, very happy here. Those talks will hopefully be starting soon.”
