Hugo Lloris has admitted that Man City’s extra day of recovery could possibly make the difference when Tottenham travel to the Etihad Stadium on Saturday evening. Both sides were involved in Champions League action in the week, with City triumphing 4-0 away at Sevilla on Tuesday and Spurs beating Marseille 2-0 in north London 24 hours later.
Hugo Lloris said: “Honestly, we have to focus on recovering at the moment then we’ll prepare for the game as good as we can. We have one day less of recovery and that can make the difference, we know. We’re going to focus on recovery but then, yes, we know how they play. But also with the new signing Haaland they have another aspect in their game which they can use. We’re going to study the way they play and we’ll try our best to get something.”
Ivan Perisic could keep his place in the starting XI after returning to the side for the win over Marseille. The summer signing is well aware of the threat City pose but he admits that Spurs will head north and try to claim all three points.
Hugo Lloris said: “It’s going to be tough. Great team, great coach, great players. But we have nothing to lose. We know it’s going to be tough, but we have a great team and we go there to try to win.”
