Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp claimed his team had to ‘dig deep’ to overcome Aston Villa and keep their Premier League title hopes alive.
Jurgen Klopp said: “The boys were outstanding, they had to dig deep. Aston Villa, they obviously had moments, but again offside here, offside there. There were one or two moments where we had to defend with the centre-halves in the six-yard box because of the quality of Villa. Ingsy unbelievable, Watkins and these kind of things that’s tricky, but we did it.”
The defeat for Gerrard’s men means it is now mathematically impossible for Villa to match their points total from last season with just three games left to play this campaign. They face back-to-back home games against Crystal Palace and Burnley, before ending the season at Manchester City.
