Bruno Lage understands interest in Max Kilman is inevitable after the Wolverhampton Wanderers defender’s stunning season. Kilman has become a hugely important player under Lage, playing an instrumental role in the club’s defensive solidity this season. Quizzed on interest in Kilman at his most recent pre-match press conference,
Bruno Lage said: “There are a lot of rumours about our players. We have a small squad so, for now, I want to keep everyone here. I am very happy with everyone. Sometimes I joke with Max because he takes two breakfasts, three lunches! He’s a young guy who is hungry outside the pitch and inside the pitch. He knows he needs to prove himself every day. He has targets and needs to keep working hard. It’s very good we have these players here with us. If we give a chance to them, they are ready to play in the first team, with the consistency Max is showing. It’s not a surprise after six months that other clubs are looking for him. But, like I’ve said before, if we want to move to the next level we need to keep our best players with us. And Max, at the moment, is very important for us.”
Kilman only recently penned a new five-year contract at Molineux to extend his stay with Wolves until 2026.
