Wesley Fofana remains on course to return to full training in February as Leicester City nurse the centre-back through the final stages of his recovery. At the time of his operation, City manager Brendan Rodgers suggested a new year return for Fofana, but pushed that back to February when speaking about the 21-year-old last month. February remains the scheduled month of return for the centre-back, who is out on the training pitch with the rehabilitation team.
Brendan Rodgers said: “We’re hoping at some point in February. It’s just trying to be careful with Wesley, we can’t be rushing him. He looks really good out on the field. He’s been out with the sports scientists and rehabilitation team. As you can imagine as a young player, he’s champing at the bit to get back. It’s about managing and nursing him through this period. It’s been a long period of time now and these are now the final stages of it, and hopefully he will be joining the squad again at some point in February. But there’s not a specific date.”
He is one of five senior defenders currently out for City, with Jonny Evans, Ricardo Pereira, Timothy Castagne, and Ryan Bertrand all out.
