Ryan Giggs scored the only goal of the game as a very much second-string Manchester United scraped past Brighton in the FA cup. Mark Hughes and Eric Cantona were already out injured and a personal tragedy meant that Ukranian Andrei Kanchelskis didn’t play either. Alex Ferguson had to bring in Brian MCclair in the team as well as Keith Gillespie and Lee Sharpe.
