Manchester United match-winner Bruno Fernandes has told Aston Villa fans they should concentrate on their own players rather than jeering him.

The Portugal international scored the only goal of the game at Old Trafford as United bounced back from disappointment against Tottenham on Thursday night to end Villa’s ten match unbeaten-run and hand Unai Emery his first defeat since mid-February. He also bagged his seventh goal against the Claret and Blues and took his side one step closer to a top four finish. He also responded to stick from the visiting supporters telling the club TV channel he doesn’t mind their stick.

Bruno Fernandez said: “They probably don’t like to play against me, but it is what it is, it’s football, I am OK with that, they can enjoy the game in the way they want. I would prefer them to come and support their players instead to be focused on me. But if they think it is better to be focused on me than their players it’s OK. I don’t mind at all. We could have got a little bit more goals but it is a tough team to play against they are well organised, they have good patterns and it is never easy. There is still some work to do, we are in a great position we are in the top four we have to maintain our position and keep winning games to be in the Champions League next season.”

After the game Villa saw Liverpool move above them in the quest for European football, after the Reds beat Tottenham 4-3. They still very much have their destiny in their own hands though and next play local rivals Wolves.
