Chris Waddle is ready to answer Sheffield Wednesday’s emergency call and return to action against West Ham. Waddle had been missing that season as Wednesday had failed to score a single goal that season and had only picked up one point in the opening three matches of the season. The England winger was certain to start against Hammers in a bid to spark off Trevor Francis’ side and his manager was desperate to get him back on the pitch.

Trevor Francis said “He made a high percentage of our goals last season and we have no replacement for him. There is no reason to panic but the sooner we start putting points on the board the better for us.”
