Sean Dyche Burnley
Nottingham Forest’s head coach, Sean Dyche, faces a challenging week as his team prepares for a critical midweek clash against Wolverhampton Wanderers. The Reds recently suffered a 2-0 defeat at home to Brighton and Hove Albion, ending their five-match unbeaten streak. Key players Murillo and Morgan Gibbs-White are currently nursing injuries, casting doubt on their availability for the upcoming match at Molineux.
Sean Dyche said: “I think he will be alright. It is too early yet but I think he will be alright. Morgan had a stiff back and he was unsure in the build-up to the (Malmo) game. We rested him. After the first 20, I thought he looked much more fluid again. To be fair to him, he has hardly trained this week but he felt he was right to go and play. We had to make a judgement call on Murillo. I am hopeful he will be alright. We have got so many games. He had a tight hamstring and wasn’t sure himself so I had to make a judgement call on that. No one will be able to see your personal information and you will only receive messages from the NottinghamshireLive Reds writers. Murillo had a bit of a tight hamstring when he came off the other night. We scanned it and it was nothing major. But it was still a bit tight today. We are trying to get people back fit, rather than re-injured. I thought Morato did fine. It was a mix-up at the end, which can happen, but he did fine. I want players who can play their part.”
Murillo, who missed the Brighton match due to a tight hamstring, was forced off during the closing stages of Forest’s Europa League victory over Malmo. His absence was felt as the team struggled defensively, with Morato stepping in alongside Nikola Milenkovic in the heart of the defense. Despite the setback, Dyche remains optimistic about Murillo’s recovery, emphasizing the need to prioritize fitness over risking further injury.
Morgan Gibbs-White, another crucial player for the Reds, was absent against Malmo due to a stiff back. Dyche expressed confidence in Gibbs-White’s recovery, noting his improved fluidity during the Brighton match despite limited training. The playmaker’s return will be vital as Forest aims to bounce back from their recent defeat and climb away from the relegation zone.
Forest’s loss to Brighton saw them fall to a Maxim De Cuyper goal just before halftime, followed by a late error that allowed Stefanos Tzimas to secure the win for the visitors. The defeat leaves Forest precariously positioned, just one point above the relegation zone, as they prepare to face bottom-placed Wolves.
The upcoming match against Wolves is crucial for Forest’s survival hopes, and Dyche will be hoping for the swift recovery of his key players to bolster the team’s chances. As the Reds travel to Molineux, all eyes will be on the fitness updates of Murillo and Gibbs-White, whose presence could prove pivotal in their fight to maintain Premier League status.
