David Beckham Manchester United
David Beckham has expressed his support for Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim following the team’s 2-1 victory against Crystal Palace. This win marked United’s first since late October and propelled them back into the top half of the Premier League standings, placing them seventh and just three points behind fourth-placed Aston Villa.
David Beckham said: “I think there are signs of the manager turning things around. There’s still a long way to go and there have been a few games where we haven’t been playing as well. But I think we’ve got a good manager there and I think he is changing things slowly.”
The match saw United come from behind, with second-half goals from Joshua Zirkzee and Mason Mount overturning Jean-Philippe Mateta’s opener for Crystal Palace. This result has brought renewed optimism to the United camp as they look to close the gap on the top four.
Beckham’s comments come amid speculation about his potential involvement in a takeover bid for Manchester United. A consortium from the United Arab Emirates reportedly approached Beckham to act as an ambassador for their bid to acquire the Glazers’ majority stake in the club. Beckham, who has been vocal in his criticism of the Glazers, previously called for their sale in 2023 and has expressed openness to future involvement with United.
Ruben Amorim said: “No, we just wanted everyone to understand the game. I felt in the last 10 minutes of the first half that the opponent was struggling, and that they would struggle in the second half. We had that feeling. And we needed to do something to change the way we were playing.”
Amorim, reflecting on the victory, acknowledged the challenges faced in the first half but emphasized the importance of understanding the game dynamics. His tactical adjustments were pivotal in United’s comeback, highlighting his growing influence at the club.
Manchester United’s recent announcement of plans to construct a new 100,000-seat stadium adjacent to Old Trafford further underscores the club’s ambitions for growth and development. As the season progresses, all eyes will be on Amorim to see if he can maintain this upward trajectory and secure a coveted top-four finish.
