Marcus Tavernier
Marcus Tavernier has been a crucial part of his team’s success this season, contributing six goals and three assists. However, the recent absence of key player Antoine Semenyo, along with other teammates, has posed challenges for the squad. Semenyo, along with Justin Kluivert and Ben Gannon-Doak, was unavailable for the recent match due to issues that arose during the international break.
Marcus Tavernier said: “You could say so. He started off the season amazing. Probably one of the best players in the league when he’s been playing on that pitch. So it was a big miss for us today, but I feel like as a team, we just weren’t good enough to get the three points today.”
Tavernier added: “Unfortunately, that’s part of football. You rarely get a full squad which is flying and no injuries. So it’s really unfortunate, not for just the team, but them players especially, to miss out on these games because they’re all a big part of this team. There’s no individual one player who makes this team tick over, and we need everyone to help to get to where we want to be.”
The absence of Semenyo and others has been felt deeply, especially given the team’s strong position regarding injuries before the international break. Tavernier highlighted the importance of each player in the squad, emphasizing that no single player is solely responsible for the team’s success. The team now faces the challenge of adapting to these absences and maintaining their performance levels in the league.
The recent setbacks underscore the unpredictable nature of football, where injuries can disrupt even the most well-prepared squads. As the team looks to regroup, the focus will be on leveraging the depth of the squad and ensuring that all players contribute to achieving their collective goals.
