David Moyes
David Moyes has shared his insights on Tyler Dibling’s transfer fee and Everton’s strategy for the upcoming January transfer window during his pre-match press conference ahead of the game against Fulham. Moyes addressed the challenges faced by Dibling in breaking into the first team and hinted at potential activities in the transfer market to bolster the squad.
David Moyes said: “At the moment, he’s got Ili Ndiaye and Jack Grealish in front of him, so that’s probably the reason why he’s finding it difficult to break into the first team. We want him to up his levels, up his training. They all had to sit and wait for their time and the right moments to find their way into the team, that’s the way it is. For Tyler at the moment, he’ll have to do that as well.”
David Moyes added: “I don’t think it’s that big a fee to be honest in football and the clubs we’re dealing with in the Premier League.”
David Moyes continued: “I don’t know if I’ve got to that point of how many I want to put in. I think every window gives you an opportunity to try and improve your squad if you can do. We didn’t bring anybody in last January except for Charly Alcaraz on loan, so we didn’t have any players brought in during January. I would think we’d be out there, trying to be busy – I see the pens writing there – but that doesn’t mean I’m going to be busy. We’re in a much better position financially with the new owners and they’ll certainly back us with a certain amount of money. So, we’ll be looking around to what could help if possible. It’s never ever been a brilliant window, people will tell you that. But we’re a side that are probably trying to build every year or every window if we can do.”
Tyler Dibling, who joined Everton from Southampton for a reported fee of £35 million, has struggled to secure a regular spot in the starting lineup. Moyes attributed this to the strong competition from established players like Ili Ndiaye and Jack Grealish. Despite the hefty price tag, Moyes downplayed the significance of the fee, suggesting that it is not substantial in the context of Premier League transactions.
The January transfer window presents an opportunity for Everton to strengthen their squad, with Moyes indicating that the club is in a better financial position under new ownership. Although he refrained from specifying the number of signings, Moyes expressed a desire to remain active in the market, aiming to enhance the team’s capabilities for the remainder of the season.
