Leeds United are set to face Nottingham Forest this Sunday, with the assurance that they will remain above the relegation zone regardless of the outcome. Currently sitting four points clear of the danger line, Leeds have accumulated 11 points from 10 games, following successful outings against Newcastle United, Wolves, Bournemouth, and West Ham United. The club is targeting a point-per-game average, suggesting that even a defeat at Forest would not derail their season objectives.
Daniel Farke said: “It’s good. But it wouldn’t be [an unusual] case if you are one point below the line – not that we want it. I will never [think] through the season that we flow easily throughout the season without any danger. If you would have asked me before the start of the season I wouldn’t have expected that it worked in this way. I would have expected periods when we are below the line and even a bit more pressure on you. It’s good that we are already over our points average and over the line. But our mindset would change if we were below the line or the average. The outside world would panic but I’m convinced with this group we have enough in order to win as many points as possible. If we can make it smooth and easy I prefer this no doubt.”
Leeds United’s current standing is a testament to their resilience and strategic gameplay under the guidance of manager Daniel Farke. Despite the challenges and pressures of the Premier League, the team has managed to stay above the relegation zone, which is a significant achievement at this stage of the season. Farke’s comments reflect a cautious optimism, acknowledging the potential difficulties ahead while expressing confidence in his squad’s ability to secure necessary points. The club’s focus on maintaining a point-per-game average is a pragmatic approach, ensuring that they remain competitive and avoid the pitfalls of relegation battles. As the season progresses, Leeds will aim to build on their current momentum and continue their upward trajectory in the league standings.
