Everton Goodison Park Away Stand
A video showcasing a young man’s act of kindness has taken social media by storm, garnering over 1.5 million views on TikTok. The incident unfolded when Laura Saxton, upon returning home, discovered her car boot had been inadvertently left open on the night of October 31. Charlie George, a 21-year-old Everton fan from St Helens, noticed the open boot while walking back from a pub in Billinge and decided to take action.
Charlie George said: “Hello mate, I’m so sorry. I’m not robbing your car, I’m just putting your boot shut lad, so your car doesn’t get robbed.”
Laura Saxton said: “There was some fella at the door that I didn’t know but it quickly turned to relief and then laughter when the fella skipped away and said up the Toffees. I posted it on TikTok never expecting it to go as far as it has. I can’t believe we have had 1.5m views. It just keeps getting bigger and bigger, it’s absolutely fabulous.”
Charlie, accompanied by friends who initially feared he might be mistaken for a thief, decided to reassure the car’s owners by speaking directly into their ring doorbell camera. In the video, he can be seen approaching the camera, explaining his intentions, and gently closing the car boot. He then wished the homeowners a good weekend with a cheerful “Up the Toffees” and a thumbs-up before heading home.
The video, shared by Laura on TikTok, quickly went viral, drawing widespread admiration for Charlie’s thoughtful gesture. Despite being a Liverpool-supporting family, Laura found humor and joy in the situation, appreciating the camaraderie between supporters of rival teams. The video has been lauded by TikTok users, with comments praising Charlie as a “top lad” and acknowledging the presence of good people in the world.
This heartening episode underscores the spirit of community and kindness that transcends football rivalries, bringing a smile to many faces during these times.
