AFC Bournemouth will be without Brazilian forward Evanilson for their upcoming Premier League fixture against Nottingham Forest. The player was unexpectedly absent from the squad in their recent match against Crystal Palace due to an injury. Manager Andoni Iraola confirmed that Evanilson’s absence is due to a minor issue, but he will not be fit to return for the weekend’s game.
Andoni Iraola said: “He’s not going to be able to perform. Brooksy has been training with us the last two days, so I hope he’s available, so we will win David Brooks. We will recover Julio [Soler], because he was with the under 20s of Argentina and after playing the final he came during the week. Also, we had the good news of Enes [Unal] playing with the development squad. He played 45 minutes, he is training fully. So also I think it’s good he continues this process and I don’t think we have more news.”
Providing further insight into Evanilson’s recovery timeline, Iraola added: “He’s not far, but he’s not ready for Sunday. I hope he’s ready for the next one. But it’s like the Brooksy one. I think they were similar in different places. Brooksy, I hope he arrives. We still have tomorrow, but he’s looking towards he’s going to be available. And Eva, I think it’s not going to be for this one. I hope he could play next one, but I’m not sure.”
Despite Evanilson’s absence, Bournemouth has received positive updates regarding other players. David Brooks, who has been training with the team, is expected to be available for selection. Additionally, Julio Soler has returned to the squad after international duty with Argentina’s under-20 team. Enes Unal, who recently played 45 minutes with the development squad, is also making progress in his recovery and is training fully.
The absence of Evanilson will be a significant miss for Bournemouth, but the potential return of Brooks and the progress of other squad members offer some optimism for Iraola’s side. As the team prepares to face Nottingham Forest, the manager will be keen to see how his squad adapts to the challenges posed by injuries and player availability.
