Marco Silva
Fulham is grappling with a significant injury crisis as they prepare to face Newcastle United at St James’ Park. The international break has exacerbated their injury woes, with manager Marco Silva describing it as the worst run of injuries since his tenure began. The team is missing key players, and their availability remains uncertain as they approach this crucial Premier League encounter.
Marco Silva said: “Wilson is a doubt, let’s see. He didn’t train the last two days. He got a knock in the national team, a small issue in the national team. He made it against Arsenal. Let’s see if he’s going to be ready or not. Yesterday he was not in condition (to train), today he didn’t train as well, let’s see tomorrow how he’s going to react. Nothing really serious, but let’s see how he’s going to feel tomorrow, and after that we’re going to take a decision about him.”
Silva added: “Rodrigo Muniz (hamstring), Antonee Robinson (knee), and Samuel Chukwueze (calf) will still be out for the trip to St James’ Park. It’s difficult to put a timeframe on Muniz and Chukwueze’s returns.”
Silva continued: “Joachim Andersen came off in the first half against Arsenal with a hamstring problem. He will not travel to Newcastle, but the injury is not severe.”
In a more positive update, Silva said: “Sasa Lukic could be available, having missed the Arsenal defeat with a groin injury. The response from him has been very good; he takes care of himself. If he feels well, he will be in contention.”
Silva also mentioned: “Kenny Tete was already involved in the last game, not 100% but was already on the bench. He has had a good week so far and he’s going to be in contention for the game.”
Fulham’s injury list presents a challenging scenario for Silva as he prepares his squad for the match against Newcastle United. The absence of key players like Rodrigo Muniz, Antonee Robinson, and Samuel Chukwueze, coupled with the uncertainty surrounding Wilson and Andersen, complicates their strategy. However, the potential return of Sasa Lukic and Kenny Tete offers a glimmer of hope for the team. Lukic, who has been a crucial part of Fulham’s midfield, has shown a promising recovery and could provide the much-needed boost in their lineup.
Fulham’s possible starting lineup for the match includes Leno; Castagne, Cuenca, Bassey, Sessegnon; Berge, Lukic; Traore, King, Iwobi; Jimenez. The team will need to adapt quickly to the injury setbacks and focus on maximizing the available resources to secure a positive result at St James’ Park.
