Antoine Semenyo
Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo played a pivotal role in their 3-1 victory, scoring two goals and providing an assist as the team came from behind to secure the win. This performance has been instrumental in propelling Bournemouth to second place in the league, marking a six-game unbeaten streak following an initial loss to Liverpool.
Antoine Semenyo said: “I think I got to the byline and all the crossing options were blocked. So the first thing was just look for his legs. If the execution is right, it goes in.” On Kluivert’s goal, Semenyo said they see strikes like that week in, week out in training. “When he scores a goal like that, we know that he’s got that quality. So, yeah, great goal and they set us on our way to victory. So, yeah, like I say, we’re grateful.” And on the third goal, Semenyo praised the awareness of young Ben Gannon-Doak to pass across the box for him to finish rather than try to finish himself. “I think he was going to go by himself, but he had the awareness to play it into the box and I think it’s just a cool, calm and collected finish.” The dressing room after the game was ‘buzzing’, Semenyo said, as Bournemouth moved second in the league. “Everyone’s in good spirits,” he said. The win on Friday took the Cherries to second in the league, having only lost once so far this season, in their opening game at Liverpool, and on a run of six games unbeaten. Asked about his and the team’s form, Semenyo said: “Just playing with confidence. I think everyone around in the team is in good spirits and it’s a great environment to be around, so I think that’s what the form is showing.”
Semenyo’s performance was not only a display of individual brilliance but also a testament to the team’s cohesive spirit and strategic play. His ability to adapt and find solutions on the field, as demonstrated by his decision-making in the final third, was crucial in breaking down the opposition’s defense. The acknowledgment of Ben Gannon-Doak’s contribution highlights the collaborative effort within the team, fostering a supportive environment that is reflected in their current form.
Bournemouth’s ascent to second place in the league is a significant achievement, showcasing their resilience and determination. The team’s ability to maintain an unbeaten streak following an initial setback against Liverpool speaks volumes about their competitive mindset and tactical acumen. As the season progresses, maintaining this momentum will be key for Bournemouth as they aim to sustain their position at the top of the league.
