Carlo Ancelotti admits he feels “embarrassed” by Everton’s wretched home form as his side fell to a ninth league defeat at Goodison this season.
Carlo Ancelotti said: “It is really difficult to explain what has gone on at home. We have lost a lot of games, all the same kind of games, and it is difficult to explain because just one week ago, we played two games away and we were really strong, reality consistent with two clean sheets and so it is really difficult to explain. I am responsible for this, of course, but also the players need to take responsibility for this. I feel embarrassed. I am really embarrassed. The next game, we have supporters at home and I hope they wake us up because we need be woken up at home. They can help us be more focused and concentrated. It [the home form] is so difficult to explain when we did so well away. At home this is the same team, the same players, it is really difficult…but we have to improve and soon and quickly.”
Everton managed only six shots on target and
Carlo Ancelotti added: “With this defeat we have lost a lot of opportunities to fight, with more possibilities, to be in Europe next season. We have two games until the end but I think we have lost a great, great opportunity. Our chances are now less than before but the only way is to win and try to get the results in the next two games. We have to play and see what position we are in at the end. It is really difficult to explain but I have to find a solution for this.”
