Fabio Silva might only have four goals in his maiden campaign at Wolverhampton Wanderers, but he’s still managed two strikes across both meetings with fierce rivals West Bromwich Albion this term. The bigger picture is that this was another step in the right direction for the youngster ahead of next term.

Fabio Silva said: “I do everything to score every game, not just this game, but it is a special game for the fans I know and I’m very happy to help the team. You have to do more things in a game to help the team and I think its the most important for my movements to help the team with the ball or without the ball. I’m very happy to score. When you are a striker, you have to smell the goal. I believed the ball would go in and I’m happy to help the team, it’s the most important. Not only the goal, about what I did in the game, my movements helped the team, this is the most important and I’m very happy to help the team. The goal is important because I’m a striker and it gives me confidence, so I’m so happy.”

While Mbaye Diagne pegged Wolves back in the second half and they were made to settle for a point, it was still a markedly better performance than the dismal display offered up against Burnley the week before. Indeed Silva was denied by Johnstone in the second half on more than one occasion as Wanderers sought the bragging rights.

Fabio Silva added: “I think the team deserved more, for what we did in the game. I think the team played good with the ball and improved on the last game with Burnley, which is the most important. When you have a bad result and have the capacity to improve, it’s congratulations to the team. I think the team went well from when the coach spoke with us in the week, and I think we deserved more from this game. It was better how we played with the ball. I think the team played so well with the ball. We controlled the game well, made West Brom run and combinations, going either side, I think the team in this aspect did so good.”
