BOSS Ralph Hasenhuttl insisted Saints were continually monitoring the progress of their loan players and said: “Everybody who does well has a chance to come back in the summer.” Asked whether he saw Elyounoussi or any other loan players playing a part with Saints next season, to add depth, the

Ralph Hasenhuttl replied: “We have a few players in our mind. You can be sure that every player who is on loan we try to follow. We try to have the latest information about his performances, his physical condition at the moment. We have to do this and, therefore, yeah, we will have a look at a few and everybody who does well has a chance to come back in the summer. This is how it should be.”

Elyounoussi joined Saints from Basel in June 2018 for a reported £16million, signing a five-year deal at St Mary’s. He has played 19 games in total for Saints, eight of those appearances coming under Hasenhuttl. Asked about going back to his parent club at a press conference earlier this month,

Mohamed Elyounoussi said: “I haven’t thought much about it yet. We still have games left, the season is not finished. I will think about that when everything is done. My main focus is still here now and to do my best for the club. I’m coming in every day to do my best in training, become a better player and do my best on the pitch when I get the chance to. So, thoughts about my future haven’t changed, I haven’t even thought about it. Like I said, my main focus is still here, now, everyday in training. The time will come to think about the future and the next step.”
