Tottenham captain Hugo Lloris has given a rare insight into what it is like in the Spurs dressing room ahead of a game. Appointed as Tottenham captain by Mauricio Pochettino back in 2015, the veteran goalkeeper also does likewise for France and captained Les Bleus to World Cup success in Russia back in 2018.

Hugo Lloris said: “To be honest I don’t have a proper routine. It depends my feeling, it depends the day. When I come into the changing room I just go for a massage to warm a little bit the legs. Then there is the preparation with the other goalkeepers and then we go onto the field to do the warm-up. When we come back I change the clothes and put the jersey on. Then there is the collective preparation.”

When pressed on how natural it is for him to do his speech before entering the field of play,

Huga Lloris added: “It depends the feeling, it depends. Also it’s not only my responsibility as there are also important players in the changing room, some leaders like Harry, like Pierre, like Eric Dier who are quite vocal. That’s good because we share this experience together and then obviously there is the manager and coaching staff. It’s quite noisy and then you go on the field. It’s also the kind of thing that wakes up a changing room, but it’s always exciting the few moments before you go on the field.”
