Callum Wilson says Newcastle United must ‘trust in the process’ as they prepare to face Manchester United in the Carabao Cup final on Sunday. The Magpies will be starring in their first cup final since 1999, and their first League Cup final in 47 years. Eddie Howe’s side defeated Tranmere Rovers, Crystal Palace, AFC Bournemouth, Leicester City, and then Southampton over two legs to book their place at Wembley. But Wilson has warned that Newcastle must treat the final as if it’s just another game in order to avoid getting overwhelmed by the occasion.

Callum Wilson said: “With the way that the club hasn’t been in a final for years and hasn’t won a trophy in years. There’s so many emotional attachments to the game. I feel that it’s going to be special day, I’ve just got this feeling inside. We won’t prepare for it any differently, you’ve just got to treat as if it’s any other game. We go in there, tracksuits before we would in every other game in the Premier League, or cup match. Go down the night before just as we do before any other game. If you start changing the process, like I said earlier about trusting the process, then all of a sudden it becomes a different game.”
