Jurgen Klopp believes the COVID-19 cases within his Liverpool squad are likely to rise after three players were confirmed as positive on Thursday. Klopp thinks the cases within his squad are likely to go up in the coming days, which could impact Sunday’s visit to Tottenham, who themselves saw their fixture with Leicester called off on Thursday.
Jurgen Klopp said: “We hope [it is contained]. The situation is difficult for us and for the whole world. We pretty much woke up this morning and had three positive cases. At the training ground, the process we follow now is, we head to the training ground, do a lateral flow test and then go back into the car and we wait for the results. In this moment, we had three positive tests and obviously that is not too cool, so we waited for confirmation as there was still the possibility of false positives, but for the game we couldn’t wait for that. We had to make the decisions and send the boys home, so we had three players out and two of them would have started today but it was of course not a reason to cancel the game.”
