Nuno Espirito Santo has urged his players to make use of home advantage when Tottenham take on Aston Villa on Sunday. Ahead of the weekend’s encounter, the Portuguese tactician said his side need to put in a performance for the home fans, whom he praised for their support this season.
Nuno Espirito Santo said “It means a lot, and we are very thankful, we all appreciate it. Villa have a talented squad, a very good manager in Dean, so it’s a tough, tough task we have ahead of us on Sunday, but we will be ready. We have to improve a lot of aspects in our game but at home, in front of our fans, let’s play a good game.”
Nuno was effusive in his praise of Villa, pointing out that they are strong in every area of the pitch and make for a “tough opponent”.
Nuno Espirito Santo said “Villa are a team that plays good football, but also very solid, so a tough opponent. They have energy in the midfield, they are stable behind, good players up front. We’ve analysed Villa as a whole but now, more than anything, we have to be focused on ourselves and what we have to do to be better. We’re at home and we have to be strong.”
Dean Smith’s men travel to North London looking for the their third successive win in the Premier League after beating Everton and Manchester United in recent weeks. In contrast the Lilywhites have lost their last three games, conceding three goals each time, and sit twelfth in the table, one point behind eighth-placed Villa. The pressure is mounting on Nuno to turn things around at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, but doing so against the in-form Villans will prove a difficult task, as he himself admits.
