The 24-year-old Brazilian winger Henrique, who made a significant move from Botafogo to Zenit for £30.7 million in the summer of 2024, is already contemplating his future career moves. During a recent interview with Globo Esporte, while he remained non-committal about a potential return to Botafogo, he did express a keen interest in playing in the Premier League, specifically mentioning Arsenal as a club he admires.
Henrique said: “I can’t talk about that [returning to Botafogo], because I’m at Zenit and I want to do a good job here. It’s a club with great structure, and I want to make history and win titles. For now, I’m going to keep the Botafogo fans curious. I’m going to let life take me. I want to fulfil my contract here at Zenit, but I have dreams of playing for a team in England and playing in the Champions League. Since I was a kid, my dream has always been to play in England. There’s a team there that I like a lot, which is Arsenal.”
Henrique’s aspirations are well-founded, given his impressive track record, including 10 goal contributions during his time at Real Betis in the 2022/23 season, marking his best personal year. His ambition is further highlighted by his 11 appearances and two goals for the Brazil senior national team. As Arsenal continues their strong performance under Mikel Arteta, currently on a 17-game unbeaten streak, Henrique’s dreams of joining the Gunners seem aligned with the club’s upward trajectory.
Arsenal, under Arteta’s leadership, is enjoying a successful season, competing at the top of the Premier League and making significant strides in the Champions League. The Gunners are also in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals, showcasing their potential to secure silverware this season. The upcoming match against Chelsea is seen as a significant challenge, with both teams in strong form.
Mikel Arteta said: “We know the challenge, we know the opportunity that we have as well on Sunday, so we are fully ready for it. They are there [at the top of the table] because they fully deserve what they have done in the last few years. I think the squad that they assembled, the numbers that they have, the quality that they have the number of coaches they have it makes sense that what is happening there is very, very positive and they deserve to be there.”
Chelsea aims to close the gap with Arsenal, while the Gunners strive to extend their lead at the top. Arsenal fans are optimistic as the team targets major trophies this season, with comprehensive coverage promised on all aspects, including VAR controversies, standout performances, and fixture challenges.
