Iliman Ndiaye
Former Everton winger Pat Nevin has voiced his belief that Iliman Ndiaye possesses the talent to fit seamlessly into Manchester City’s squad. Despite this, Nevin is keen for the Senegal international to remain at Everton, highlighting his significant contributions to the team. Ndiaye’s standout performance against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium last month has only intensified interest in his abilities.
Pat Nevin said: “Losing Iliman Ndiaye is a fear for Everton. There are other players that can play that position. Does that mean that Ndiaye is replaceable? I’m not so sure, I think he’s fabulous. I think he’s one of the best players in the league at the moment. I think if you stuck him at Manchester City out on the wide right, he’s fine. He’s good enough. There’s not much higher praise in English football because they brought players like Savinho, et cetera, and they’re fabulous but I don’t think they’re any better than Ndiaye. He’s that good. So he’s technically brilliant, very exciting to watch.”
Nevin added: “He’s producing the numbers as well, just now. He’s scoring a few goals. Others will be very keen and very interested in getting him. David Moyes will have to be clever. It’s all about finances. If you lose him, you know, what’s the going rate for a winger at the moment? The going rate for a winger? You’ve got to think it’s 60-65 million pounds, that’s a lot of money. You can do a lot with 60-65 million. You might even get a centre-forward, which I think everyone’s still looking for. So, it’s a juggling act. I desperately don’t want him to leave because I really, I love Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Jack Grealish, but if I want anybody on the ball at Everton, I want Ndiaye on the ball. So, I hope we don’t lose him, but will others be interested? Yeah, of course they will because he’s that good.”
Nevin’s comments underline the dilemma facing Everton, as they weigh the benefits of retaining a key player against the financial incentives of a potential transfer. Ndiaye’s technical brilliance and goal-scoring contributions have made him a valuable asset for the club. While a sale could provide Everton with funds to address their striker issues, Nevin’s endorsement highlights the player’s irreplaceable qualities on the field.
With interest from clubs like Manchester City, Everton’s management, led by David Moyes, faces a challenging decision. The club must balance the immediate financial benefits of a sale with the long-term impact on team performance. As the transfer window approaches, Everton supporters will be eager to see how the situation unfolds, hoping to retain one of their standout performers.
