Dominik Szoboszlai
Dominik Szoboszlai has been a beacon of excellence for Liverpool this season, showcasing his versatility by excelling in various midfield roles and even at right-back. His standout performance in Liverpool’s recent 1-0 Champions League victory over Real Madrid at Anfield has only heightened interest in the Hungarian international.
Arne Slot said: “He can defend, he can really be the one to put pressure, to be aggressive, he can deliver from set pieces, he can attack the box. He can do whatever he wants to do on the football pitch and be a threat, and run the whole day, and he’s also very good looking! For sure, his qualities are so good he can play in any team in the world, that’s why Real Madrid might be interested.”
Real Madrid, who have previously signed Trent Alexander-Arnold from Liverpool, are reportedly keen on acquiring Szoboszlai. The Spanish giants are also eyeing Ibrahima Konate, should the centre-back not renew his contract with Liverpool before the season’s end.
Biscan said: “There is pressure, but for every manager at that level, there is always pressure. I don’t think his job is in question. Even if he doesn’t win the league, just by doing what he did last year, after what happened before he arrived and how difficult his job was, it was exceptional. Everybody was saying it would be extremely difficult for him to really continue what Jurgen Klopp had done before him. He is a quality manager, and he deserves a lot of credit and he needs time. There are so many new players, and you need time to make them work together. I’m really sure that they will start winning again very soon.”
Despite Liverpool’s inconsistent form, Szoboszlai’s performances have been a bright spot, demonstrating his ability to adapt and excel in different positions. His potential move to Real Madrid would be a significant development, reflecting his growing reputation in European football. Meanwhile, Liverpool’s management remains optimistic about overcoming current challenges and returning to winning ways, with a focus on integrating new players and building team cohesion.
