Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly keeping a close watch on Real Madrid forward Rodrygo, who is currently in London for Brazil’s international friendly at the Emirates Stadium. The 24-year-old Brazilian is said to be dissatisfied with his limited role at Real Madrid, sparking speculation about a potential move to the Premier League. Despite his current situation, Rodrygo has expressed his affection for Real Madrid but remains open to future possibilities.
Rodrygo told AS: “Every summer, the same thing happens to me. Whether I’m going to leave or whether I have offers from this club or that. Every week, I was in a team if I paid attention to what was published. Of course, there are always offers; I’m not going to lie about that. But I’ve always made it clear to the club that I want to continue succeeding here, even more than I already have. It’s a lot to have won two Champions Leagues at my age, but now I want more European Cups in this shirt. I’ve always said; ‘As long as Real Madrid wants me, I’ll be here’. If one day Real Madrid says to me; ‘Rodry, find a team’, I’ll say; ‘Okay’. But that hasn’t happened. The club has always told me they count on me. And when I have had a problem, they were there for me. People speculated because I kept quiet. But I knew what I was going to do this season with Real Madrid and that I’m going to be focused on giving my best. It hasn’t bothered me. I was calm, and here I am… as always. This is my seventh season.”
Rodrygo’s recent Instagram activity, showcasing his presence in London, has fueled rumors of a potential transfer. According to ESPN Brazil, the forward is eyeing a move to the Premier League, with Arsenal previously being a strong contender for his signature. However, Rodrygo reiterated in October his commitment to Real Madrid, despite the limited playing time he has received under the club’s returning Spanish manager.
The forward has only managed 43 minutes of play in Real Madrid’s last three matches, which contradicts the manager’s summer assertion of Rodrygo’s importance to the team. This discrepancy has led to increased speculation about his future, with Tottenham hoping to capitalize on any potential discontent.
The upcoming North London Derby, following the international break, presents an opportune moment for either Tottenham or Arsenal to make a lasting impression on Rodrygo. As the transfer window approaches, both clubs will be keen to monitor the situation closely, especially if Rodrygo’s dissatisfaction at Real Madrid persists.
