Tottenham Hotspur have been handed a significant injury boost with the news that Romanian international Radu Dragusin is nearing a return to full fitness. Dragusin, who has been sidelined with an ACL injury, has rejoined team training and is on the verge of making a comeback after being out for nine months. This development comes as a relief for Spurs, who have been grappling with a series of injuries to key players.
Thomas Frank said: “He’s fully integrated into training now. An ACL [injury] is not tricky, but it’s such a big injury, because you’re out for nine months, so you need to build strength in the knee. He is definitely getting closer to being involved. I think we plan to play him in a friendly [during the November break], as I understand it.”
James Maddison wrote on Instagram: “Day off for me today. But couldn’t miss Radu’s first minutes back after 9 months. I’ve seen first-hand how hard this man has worked to be in that position ready to play again today. His attitude honest to god keeps me so motivated [arm flexed emoji]. Proud of ya mush [white heart emoji].”
The return of Dragusin is timely for Tottenham, who have been plagued by injuries to several key players. Dejan Kulusevski remains a long-term absentee following knee surgery in May. Additionally, Dominic Solanke and Ben Davies have had limited appearances this season due to ankle and thigh injuries, respectively. Other players, including Yves Bissouma, Archie Gray, and Kota Takai, are also on the injury list, while Lucas Bergvall has been sidelined with a concussion.
Mohammed Kudus, who missed the recent 2-2 draw against Manchester United, is expected to return after the international break. Meanwhile, concerns over Cristian Romero’s fitness were alleviated after head coach Thomas Frank confirmed that his substitution was due to fatigue rather than injury. Romero has since joined the Argentina national team for friendlies against Angola and Australia.
As Tottenham look to navigate their injury crisis, the return of Dragusin will be a welcome boost to their defensive options. The Romanian’s recovery and reintegration into the squad will be closely monitored, with a potential appearance in a friendly match during the November international break on the cards.
