Bruno Fernandes celebrated a significant milestone in his Manchester United career, marking his 300th appearance for the club with an outstanding performance in their 4-2 victory over Brighton at Old Trafford. The Portuguese midfielder played a pivotal role in the match, contributing to the team’s third consecutive win.
Ruben Amorim said: “I feel good. I think we played well but we suffered in the end, a little bit, our fault in the way we conceded the first goal. You can sense that, in that time of the game, we are near the fourth goal, not to suffer one. But they did everything. They run, they play with the ball, they kept the ball when it was needed. So it was a good game. You have the game under control and then you suffer a goal. And then we suffer a little bit. They have a lot of talent. They have a lot of quality with the ball and they control that and they use that momentum to control the game. But we are improving in the way we respond to bad moments, and today, we did it again. We respond a little bit better and that’s really important. We know how to suffer. If we suffer together, it’s so much easier to win games.”
Fernandes, who joined Manchester United from Sporting CP in February 2020 for £47 million plus add-ons, has become a fan favorite at Old Trafford. His contributions to the team have been immense, with 100 goals and 87 assists to his name, along with two major trophies. His leadership on the field was evident as he controlled the midfield and helped secure the win against Brighton.
The match saw United take an early lead with goals from Matheus Cunha and Casemiro, putting them 2-0 ahead in the first half. Bryan Mbeumo extended the lead to three goals just after the hour mark. Despite a late scare from Brighton’s Danny Welbeck and Charalampos Kostoulas, Mbeumo sealed the victory with his second goal of the match.
Following the game, Fernandes took to Instagram to reflect on his milestone, sharing images from the match and expressing his joy at the achievement. Matheus Cunha responded with a congratulatory message, highlighting the camaraderie within the team. Other teammates, including Bryan Mbeumo, Ayden Heaven, Amad Diallo, Leny Yoro, and Matthijs de Ligt, also left comments celebrating Fernandes’ 300th appearance.
The win against Brighton not only showcased Fernandes’ influence on the pitch but also highlighted the team’s growing resilience and ability to manage challenging moments during matches. As United continues to build momentum, Fernandes’ role as a leader and key player remains crucial to their success.
