Thomas Frank
Tottenham Hotspur manager Thomas Frank is gearing up for his team’s inaugural visit to Hill Dickinson Stadium to face Everton. As the match approaches, Frank has expressed both caution and respect, particularly highlighting the threat posed by Everton’s Jack Grealish. This fixture marks a significant encounter, with Frank acknowledging the influence of Everton manager David Moyes in revitalizing Grealish’s career.
Thomas Frank said: “Grealish, you know, I think it’s down to the player, but also part of the coaching staff, the manager and David Moyes have got Grealish to flourish again. He’s so dangerous, he can create something out of nothing in every game. So, of course, we need to be aware of him.”
Frank’s comments underscore the tactical considerations Tottenham must address to counter Everton’s offensive threats. Beyond Grealish, Frank also acknowledged the form of other Everton players, such as Beto and Illiman Ndiaye, as well as Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, who has found his stride after a challenging period at Chelsea.
Thomas Frank said: “There are more players than just Grealish. Beto has been good up front and (Illiman) Ndiaye has been very good. I think (Kiernan) Dewsbury-Hall has been good after maybe not being on top at Chelsea. He’s a manager that I admire and a person I respect massively in the game.”
Frank’s admiration for Moyes is rooted in their shared history in the Premier League, where Frank’s Brentford and Moyes’ West Ham United were local rivals. This respect extends beyond the pitch, recognizing Moyes’ ability to cultivate talent and manage effectively.
However, Tottenham faces its own challenges with a squad hit by injuries. Key defenders Cristian Romero and Destiny Udogie are confirmed absentees for the match, alongside other sidelined players including Yves Bissouma, Dominic Solanke, Dejan Kulusevski, Radu Dragusin, Ben Davies, Kota Takai, and James Maddison. Frank provided an update on Romero’s condition, indicating a positive progression in his recovery.
Thomas Frank said: “Yes, Cuti (Romero) just walked out on the grass running, some of the performance guys, so positive, progressing, no time frame, but I don’t expect it to be a longer one.”
The absence of these players presents a significant test for Frank’s tactical acumen as he prepares his team to face a formidable Everton side. Despite these setbacks, Frank remains optimistic, focusing on the strengths of his available squad to navigate this challenging fixture.
