Arsenal is set to face Crystal Palace at the Emirates Stadium this weekend, aiming to solidify their position at the top of the Premier League table. The Gunners, who have won six of their first nine fixtures, are keen to maintain their lead over title contenders Manchester City and Liverpool. However, Arsenal faces a challenging task with several key players sidelined due to injuries.
Gabriel Jesus said: “I’m feeling great. My knee is responding very well. It’s been too long. An injury like this, one that is so long, you split up the recovery periods into smaller timings. So now I’m at the stage where I need to hold myself back a little bit, because I’m doing great work outside on the pitches, but it’s tricky because I need to not rush myself too hard over the line.”
Oliver Glasner said: “We’ve no injury concerns – all players are fit, all players look really good, and are in good shape, so we’re ready for our first home game in the Conference League. We had five days between Bournemouth and Larnaca. The international [players] got two days off to recover, and we’ve prepared yesterday and today – short sessions, but the players look really sharp. We will play the best team [against Larnaca].”
Arsenal will be without several key players for the upcoming clash, including Gabriel Jesus, who is in the final stages of his long-term knee injury rehabilitation. Jesus expressed optimism about his recovery but emphasized the importance of not rushing his return to ensure full fitness. Additionally, Kai Havertz and Noni Madueke are also recovering from knee injuries and are not expected to return until next month.
Crystal Palace, managed by Oliver Glasner, also faces injury challenges, with long-term absentees Cheick Doucoure, Caleb Kporha, and Chadi Riad unavailable for selection. Despite these setbacks, Glasner remains confident, highlighting that his squad is in good shape and ready for their Europa League match against AEK Larnaca.
Arsenal’s fixture against Crystal Palace presents an opportunity to extend their lead over Manchester City, who are currently three points behind. Meanwhile, Liverpool will face Brentford, adding further intrigue to the title race. As Arsenal prepares for the weekend clash, the focus will be on managing their squad effectively amid injury concerns to maintain their strong start to the season.
