Andoni Iraola
Junior Kroupi made a significant impact in his first start for Bournemouth as he netted a brace against Crystal Palace. The young striker was given the opportunity to start after Evanilson was sidelined due to a soleus issue. Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola praised Kroupi’s performance but emphasized the ongoing development needed to enhance his overall game.
Andoni Iraola said: “He’s a 19-year-old, first start. I think he’s someone who has a good relationship with the goal. These two goals where he reads well, the second ball, the rebounds and he should be happy. I think we are trying to add him more things because the goal is something that he’s always had in different divisions, obviously not in the Premier League, but he’s someone that scores goals. But we need him to do a lot of things that Eva is doing for us during the games.”
Iraola continued: “I think he’s understanding a little bit the challenge, the rhythm of the Premier League. And he’s a goal scorer because he smells the chances. He’s someone who is very aware of the second balls, where the balls can finish. He’s a good finisher. But obviously he has still a lot of things to improve the physicality, the rhythm, a lot of things that he has to learn, like normal, because he’s 19. But I’m very, very pleased that first, even without a lot of minutes the other day, he also scored and recovered a point, Leads away. And today, first start, score two goals is great help for us.”
Kroupi’s performance against Crystal Palace highlighted his innate goal-scoring ability, which has been evident across various divisions. However, Iraola pointed out the importance of developing other aspects of his game to meet the demands of the Premier League. The manager noted that while Kroupi has shown an understanding of the league’s challenges, there is still room for improvement, particularly in terms of physicality and game rhythm.
Bournemouth’s faith in Kroupi’s potential is evident, and his ability to score in crucial moments, as demonstrated in previous matches, is a promising sign for the club. As he continues to adapt to the Premier League, Kroupi’s development will be closely monitored, with the club aiming to cultivate a well-rounded player capable of contributing beyond just goals.
