Daniel James Manchester United
Leeds United are set to be without winger Daniel James until after the November international break following an ankle injury sustained during training this week. The club initially confirmed James’s absence due to the injury, which fueled speculation about the severity and potential length of his recovery. These concerns were addressed by his international manager Craig Bellamy and subsequently by Leeds United.
Craig Bellamy said: “He has an ankle problem. We’ll wait and see. Nothing’s been confirmed yet. If it’s good, brilliant, but if it isn’t, then we adapt.”
A Leeds spokesperson said: “Daniel James has an ankle issue which is currently undergoing assessment.”
Daniel Farke said: “It’s mixed injury news. Daniel James will be out for a few weeks. He has rolled his ankle in training, and the doctor says he will likely be out for four to six weeks. That means realistically we are not expecting him back before the November international break. If he is available before then, it will be a bonus and a surprise.”
The news of James’s injury is a significant setback for both the player and the team, as he has struggled with various injuries since the summer, limiting his ability to maintain a consistent presence on the field. The latest injury could see him sidelined for up to six weeks, impacting Leeds United’s squad depth during a crucial period.
In addition to James, Leeds United will also be without Willy Gnonto for their upcoming match against Tottenham Hotspur. Gnonto has not yet returned to team training and is expected back only after the international break. Manager Daniel Farke also mentioned concerns over Harry Gray, who is dealing with hip flexor issues, casting doubt on his availability for the match. However, there is positive news regarding Lucas Perri, who has resumed team training and is anticipated to be available post-break.
Leeds United will need to navigate these injury challenges as they prepare for their upcoming fixtures, with the hope of having a strengthened squad once the international break concludes.
