Jack Grealish is hoping that, by continuing to reach new heights, England manager Gareth Southgate won’t be able to ignore him any longer. There have been calls previously for Grealish to receive recognition at international level, since he decided to pursue a Three Lions call-up over Ireland for whom he was also eligible. The man himself was left hanging in March, before the last scheduled international break, because of the coronavirus pandemic forcing football around the globe to come to a shuddering halt. He’s optimistic that, by continuing to produce displays of the calibre that he has been, a nod from Southgate is on the horizon.
Jack Grealish said “That is what I have set out to achieve since I committed to England, In March I did not know what was going to happen but the virus obviously stopped everything. Who knows if I would have been called up or not [for the last England squad]? All I can do is start the way I was playing before and hopefully next season I can start strongly and when the internationals come back around I will be back in with a shout.”
