Cole Palmer

Chelsea’s promising young talent, Cole Palmer, has faced an unexpected hurdle in his recovery from a groin injury that sidelined him since September 20. The Blues were hopeful for Palmer’s return in their upcoming fixtures against Barcelona and Arsenal. However, the former Manchester City player sustained a bizarre injury at home, fracturing his little toe after stubbing it on a door.
Enzo Maresca said: “He’s not available for tomorrow for sure, Barcelona, for sure, Arsenal, for sure. Unfortunately, he had an accident at home two days ago and he hit his toe.” The Blues head coach continued: “He was very close [to returning]. He was back with us almost with the groin [injury] and it’s very good news. And then again, he had this small problem and hopefully it is nothing important.”
Despite this setback, Chelsea is taking proactive measures to ensure Palmer’s swift recovery. The club has commissioned a specially-adapted boot to aid Palmer’s healing process. This approach is standard when dealing with injuries to the little toe, aiming to facilitate a quicker return to training. Chelsea is optimistic that with this aid, Palmer could be back on the training field next week, preparing for a busy schedule of fixtures.
Palmer’s absence has been felt for over two months, and while Maresca acknowledges the team’s adaptability in his absence, the Italian coach is eager to have the young attacker back in action. Palmer’s presence on the pitch is seen as a significant boost to his teammates, enhancing their overall performance.
Maresca said: “I think that the teammates are better players with Cole playing. I feel much better when Cole is on the pitch, and we all want Cole on the pitch. At the same time, when Cole is not on the pitch, we need to find a solution.”
The Chelsea squad has shown resilience, maintaining their form despite Palmer’s absence. Maresca praised the team’s performance, emphasizing the importance of adaptability and maintaining their playing style even without key players. As Chelsea navigates through this challenging period, the return of Palmer is eagerly anticipated by both the team and fans alike.
