Declan Rice
Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice has voiced his strong support for manager Mikel Arteta, highlighting the Spaniard’s potential for greatness. As Arsenal prepares to face Tottenham Hotspur in the North London Derby, Rice’s comments come at a crucial time, with the Gunners aiming to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League. Arsenal’s position at the summit could be under threat if Manchester City secures a victory against Newcastle United, potentially narrowing the gap to just one point.
Declan Rice said: “I think I’m very lucky to say that I’ve been able to play under him. This is the manager who is young in his managerial career still but I think when it’s all said and done, he will go down as one of the best.”
Rice’s endorsement of Arteta extends beyond mere praise, as he offers a glimpse into the meticulous methods employed by the Arsenal manager. Arteta, who honed his skills under Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, is lauded for his tactical acumen and ability to prepare his players thoroughly.
Arteta said: “It’s only the start like I said, don’t judge him now, judge him at the end when he’s won everything because he will. He is just incredible, tactically, everything he does, the way he sets you up. I go onto the football pitch and all I have to worry about is playing football, I know everything tactically. It’s like a remote control in my head, he’s built it into me, like he’s built into every player. Every time you go on the pitch, you know what you’re doing that’s down to him, I can’t speak highly enough of him.”
Arteta’s next challenge comes as Arsenal hosts Brentford at the Emirates Stadium for the first North London Derby of the season. However, the Gunners will face this test without one of their key players, Gabriel, who is sidelined due to an injury sustained during the international break. The Brazilian defender is expected to be out for several weeks, with Cristhian Mosquera and Piero Hincapie in line to fill the void.
Mosquera has already gained Premier League experience this season, making seven appearances, including a brief stint against Sunderland. Meanwhile, Ecuadorian international Hincapie has featured twice in the league, both times as a substitute. Arsenal’s defensive options will be crucial as they aim to maintain their strong form and continue their pursuit of Premier League glory under Arteta’s guidance.
