Newcastle United head coach Eddie Howe has waxed lyrical about Aston Villa boss Steven Gerrard ahead of the meeting between their sides at St James’ Park. Both have returned to the Premier League this season but have not yet done battle with each other in their new roles. Gerrard has taken charge of 11 Premier League games since taking the reins at Villa Park, overseeing five wins. Speaking before Sunday’s clash,
Eddie Howe said “He’s got all the credentials to go on and manage at the very, very highest level and achieve whatever he wants to in the game. He’s done a great job already at Rangers, he’s come into Aston Villa and made a big impact in a short period of time. He’s someone I haven’t come up against yet in terms of playing against one of his teams, but from afar I’ve watched his work and been very impressed.”
