Sam Allardyce concedes West Bromwich Albion may be forced to part with star man Matheus Pereira once relegation is confirmed.

Sam Allardyce said: “There’s a price for everybody, isn’t there? Everybody has a price. Whatever price the club thinks Matheus is worth, if anybody goes above that then I would think it would be very difficult for him to say no. You wouldn’t know what Matheus is thinking after this season, certainly in the latter part of the season when he’s proved himself to be more than comfortable at this level. We’ve got a lot of conclusions to come to, well the club has, on what the situation is. We’d like Matheus to stay but you don’t know what he’s thinking and you don’t know what other clubs are thinking after the way he’s performed.”

A candidate to replace Pereira in Albion’s attack would be Scottish winger Robert Snodgrass, who joined the club from West Ham in the January transfer window. Snodgrass played a key role in Albion’s win over Wolves at Molineux on his debut but injuries have disrupted his time at The Hawthorns. He’s only played eight games in total and will now undergo back surgery to ensure he’s fit for the start of next season.

Sam Allardyce added: “Robert has got to have a slight operation on a back problem which will put him out until the end of the season. The decision has been taken now to make sure that by the time pre-season starts again he will be 100 per cent fit and ready to go. He hasn’t made as big a contribution as we would have liked, but he made a massive contribution in our first win against Wolves.”
