Jesse Lingard could not have hoped for a better start to his West Ham career, six starts, four goals, one assist and a recall to the England set-up. Not a bad return for a man who had not started a Premier League game since January 1, 2020.

West Ham fans are desperate for Lingard’s loan to be converted into a transfer following his instant success at the club. The recall to the England squad can only be a positive for the attacking-midfielder as he looks to return to Southgate’s set-up on a regular basis and Moyes was thrilled with his player’s selection.

Jesse Lingard said “I am really pleased for Jesse it is great for him, his performances have warranted it in how he has played for us.  His performances have been great for us and I have to say he has been very good, we just hope that continues. We want him to be positive and show exactly what he can do on the pitch and he has helped us. He has been a good acquisition for the squad in January and I hope he can add a few more goals before the end of the season.”

Lingard came straight into the West Ham starting XI and scored a brace on his debut against Aston Villa, the 28-year-old has only tasted defeat once in a Hammers shirt and that was narrowly against champions-elect Manchester City. The lack of an attacking threat in West Ham’s two recent trips to Manchester United, games in which Lingard was ineligible to play, is a clear sign of how important he has already become to David Moyes’ team. Lingard’s loan move to West Ham will cost the Hammers between £4 and £4.5 million depending on if Moyes can lead his team to Europe or not. West Ham’s involvement in European football could also be a factor for Lingard in his decision whether or not the London Stadium is to be his permanent home. However, Moyes has said that the club have not even considered a permanent move for the England international.
