Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho has offered his reaction to a 2-0 defeat of West Bromwich Albion on Sunday. Spurs had to be patient as a resolute Albion held their own for the first 45 minutes of the Premier League clash in north London. But goals after half-time from Harry Kane and Son Heung-min put Spurs in control shortly before the hour mark and sent West Brom crashing to a fourth defeat in the last five matches. Albion remain in 19th place with 12 points from 23 games played so far this season and before the game, both teams were heading into the clash on the back of defeat. Tottenham have seen their title charge crumble and even after Sunday’s game they are in seventh place. Mourinho’s men had lost their last three matches before Sam Allardyce ‘s side came to the capital.

Jose Mourinho said:”Of course the result is the most important thing, especially when the team comes from three defeats, What really had an impact on me – it was not a surprise as I was expecting it – but what really made me happy was to see that commitment, that desire, that togetherness. It was very important. I’m happy because of that. Then we did very good things in terms of the football we played but more important than that for me was exactly that compromise that everyone showed.”

Allardyce meanwhile, bemoaned another poor defensive display.

Sam Allardyce said: “I’m still facing the same problems ten games in and those lapses in concentration keep hurting us. Harry Kane being alone in our box amazes me but there you go. Son and Harry Kane have scored because of our weaknesses there. There is no lack of effort from this group of players, there is no one not trying, I can’t point the finger at anyone for not giving what they have got.”
