Michael Keane has insisted that Everton will remain ultra-competitive once their Premier League fixtures resume with Carlo Ancelotti’s side chasing a place in European competition. If the global coronavirus pandemic caused the Premier League to be halted now at the three-quarter mark, the Blues would be condemned to a 12th place finish – their lowest position since they came 17th on 39 points back in 2004. However, Keane insists that he and his team-mates are looking upwards for the remainder of the campaign – despite being deprived of the Goodison fan factor.

Michael Keane said: “We definitely have to chase Europe and try to get as high up in the table as possible. That has been in our sights since before lockdown. That will be the same when we are back. We have a lot to play for, there will be no dead games. They won’t feel like friendlies, because we have a lot to play for. There’s a massive carrot dangling in front of us with Europe.”
