Wolves boss Julen Lopetegui says his side will have to be “close to perfection” to upset Arsenal at the Emirates on Sunday. Lopetegui’s side go into the final game of the season with some momentum having clinched Premier League safety with three games to spare, quite a turnaround from when the Spaniard was appointed in November with them bottom of the table. But the Wolves boss knows his side face a tough challenge against an Arsenal side who have just fallen short of the Premier League title after pushing Manchester City close. Arsenal have won their last three league games against Wolves but Lopetegui is less interested in that than the challenge in front of him.

Julen Lopetegui said: “I don’t think about the last matches or the statistics. Each match is different, I am sure they are going to want a big match in front of their fans and we have to be ready to have a good answer as a team. We have to be very close to perfection if we want to compete with them because they are one of the best teams in the Premier League, undoubtedly, and are a big demand for all their opponents. We have to try to be close to perfection.”

Lopetegui’s side go into the game in 13th , on 41 points, but a little frustrated they were denied a fifth home win on the spin when Yerry Mina’s 99th minute equaliser earned Everton a 1-1 draw at Molineux on Saturday.

Julen Lopetegui added: “We want to finish well of course. It was a pity in the last match, in the last minute in front of our fans. But this is the last match and we are going to try to do well, knowing the circumstances of the game. Undoubtedly we want our fans to have a good day. It is not easy of course. Not just for us, for all the teams they play, but we have to be ready.”
