Ralf Rangnick hopes to keep Donny van de Beek at Manchester United this month, despite reports the Dutch playmaker has been offered to two clubs.

Ralf Rangnick  said “He’s always performing at a high level in training. With him, I had a conversation with him after training two weeks ago exactly about that and I advised him to stay until the end of the season. And then, of course, with the World Cup coming up in the winter, he wants to play in the World Cup for his country. Louis van Gaal told him in order to be a regular starter in the World Cup he has to play for his team. I can understand his wish and desire to play. On the other hand, we have a lot of competition in our squad exactly in those positions.”

Van de Beek – who has been linked with a move to Wolverhampton Wanderers – has reportedly been touted for loan moves to Newcastle United and Borussia Dortmund. The midfielder has been used sparingly since his £35million transfer to United in 2020, making just 26 appearances in the Premier League – and the majority of those have come as a substitute. The midfielder has lost his place in the Netherlands squad as a result of his Old Trafford plight and needs a move to resurrect his career.   Rangnick is keen to keep van de Beek at Old Trafford, particularly now that fellow midfielder Paul Pogba has been ruled out until February.
