Manchester City had to ferry one of their players to Swindon by car after he had an inconclusive Covid test before they flew to the game. That came after two more backroom staff members returned positive tests, after it was revealed on Thursday that 14 staff and seven first-team players were isolating due to Covid. After Friday’s game

Rodolfo Borrell said: “Today there was a couple more staff that got positives. And there was one player that was inconclusive and we had to wait for a second test and actually he came down by car. He couldn’t fly with us and had to come down by car. At the moment, there’s a couple more staff to add to that list and today fortunately there were no more players. Hopefully, fingers crossed there’s nobody (else positive).”

Guardiola tested positive last Tuesday so should be free to resume normal duties this week after suffering mild symptoms, so – barring a fresh outbreak – the Blues should be in decent shape going into the meeting with second-placed Chelsea.  Asked about Guardiola’s status,

Rodolfo Borrell said: “Obviously he’s the manager, the boss and he’s extremely influential as you know. I hope he is going to be available if not the beginning [of the week], midweek at the latest. People who got positive, some stay positive after six days or eight days. We expect him at the beginning of the week and at some point to be available. In terms of preparation obviously we will do what we have to do again. We plan and we do everything together so there is no changes and time to rest in order to build up to Chelsea.”
