Brentford boss Thomas Frank was left frustrated by his side’s draw with Aston Villa. Assessing his team’s work, Frank lauded his players for ending Villa’s win-streak, giving credit to the difficult challenge posed by Emery’s side.

Thomas Frank said: “I am so pleased. The players did everything we asked of them – I think it was close to a complete performance in many, many ways. The way we dominated Villa throughout the game until that equaliser, where they had one half-chance to [Jacob] Ramsey, was incredible, against a team that’s in great form. That’s a good indicator of how well we have done today; creating plenty of chances, plenty of opportunities to make it 2-0. So, in many ways, I’m very pleased.”

Despite finding the positives, the Brentford boss did struggle to understand how his side had not won the game prior to Villa’s equaliser . Forward Kevin Schade, in particular, missed a golden chance after rounding replacement Villa goalkeeper Robin Olsen.

Thomas Frank said: “That’s the thing that’s so tricky and so difficult, especially for myself – I need to be this calm guy and look at things from a bigger perspective. I look at the performance and it’s still difficult to cope with because you’re standing here and there should be only one winner in this game, if you look at everything, only one winner. So, from that perspective, it’s difficult to cope with. But that is football and we need to accept that.”
