Graeme Souness

Graeme Souness recognized that the mood of optimism sweeping the Merseyside with a 100 per cent start on both sides of Standley Park but he refused to get carried away. His team was facing Swindon next who had already sold out 18000 tickets for the game and Souness urged caution to the fans and to his players.

Graeme Souness said “Several teams have won two games. Our performances have been encouraging, but we must keep our feet on the ground. We are coming up against a side that has been beaten twice, but what better way for them to gain in confidence than to beat Liverpool. You can take nothing for granted in football.”
