Kilmarnock goalkeeper Max Stryjek, who previously spent time as a youth prospect at Sunderland, has successfully undergone heart surgery. The 29-year-old has been sidelined since October after an anomaly was detected during routine annual medical tests. Stryjek expressed his gratitude for the support he received from Kilmarnock and is optimistic about his recovery process.
Max Stryjek said: “Operation was successful and can’t wait to get back to playing football. I would love to thank the club Kilmarnock, who has provided me the best surgeons and the best hospital to proceed with the operation. I would like to thank my family, friends and whoever thought and prayed for me during this time. The recovery process has started straight after operation and it’s going pretty smoothly and fast.”
Stryjek’s absence has been felt by Kilmarnock, who have struggled to find form since his departure from the squad. Prior to his surgery, the team had secured two consecutive victories. However, they have since been unable to secure a win, enduring a six-match losing streak that was only recently halted with a 1-1 draw against Dundee United.
As Kilmarnock prepares to face Hearts at Tynecastle, manager Stuart Kettlewell is focused on strategies to rejuvenate the team’s performance. Kettlewell is considering various approaches to ensure the squad reaches its full potential.
Stuart Kettlewell said: “What we need to try to do is make sure we are maximising the quality in our group and making sure that everybody gets to the highest level they possibly can in a game. Whether that’s doing less to be fresh going into games, or reducing information at times not to muddy waters, whether that’s adding more information, rest assured I look into these things every single minute of every day. Sometimes it wakes you up at night when you are trying to conjure up the right answer to the problems that you face.”
Kettlewell’s comments reflect the ongoing challenges faced by the team in the absence of their first-choice goalkeeper. The manager’s dedication to finding solutions underscores the importance of strategic adjustments in the pursuit of improved results. As Stryjek continues his recovery, Kilmarnock will aim to regain their winning momentum and climb the league standings.
