Nottingham Forest secured an impressive 3-0 victory over Liverpool at Anfield, marking back-to-back wins under the guidance of head coach Sean Dyche. Goals from Murillo, Nicolo Savona, and Morgan Gibbs-White sealed the triumph, while goalkeeper Matz Sels achieved his first Premier League clean sheet since April. The victory was a significant boost for Forest, who are determined to maintain their momentum without getting carried away by the result.
Ryan Yates said: “As we’ve said all season, we’ve got the quality but you need to back that up. We need to work harder for each other and do more for each other every single game. We’ve made good progress over the last few weeks, so let’s just keep looking up and stay positive. It’s a big psychological boost getting out of the relegation zone but it’s harder staying out of it and that is what this club demands.”
He added: “The lads were incredible. We thoroughly deserved the win and the dressing room is quite lively. We’re enjoying it. They (Liverpool) are still a team full of a lot of quality, and we knew that. Any time you go to Anfield, you need to weather the storm for the first 20 or 30 minutes. The lads did brilliantly and we grew into the game. We got the first goal, knocked their confidence and never let them recover.”
Yates continued: “He’s been huge, him and his staff. They came in and embraced everything that the club is about. They have brought that togetherness with the team and the supporters; they have got that connection going again, and you know how powerful that is at Forest.”
The victory against Liverpool was not only a testament to Forest’s growing confidence but also highlighted the impact of Sean Dyche’s leadership. Since taking over, Dyche has focused on the basics, emphasizing hard work and unity among the players and supporters. This approach has revitalized the club, fostering a strong bond between the team and its fans. The win at Anfield is a significant step forward, as it lifts Forest out of the relegation zone, a position they are keen to maintain.
The team’s performance at Anfield demonstrated their ability to compete against top-tier teams, showcasing their resilience and tactical discipline. As Forest look to build on this success, the focus remains on consistent improvement and maintaining the positive momentum generated by recent victories.
