Nottingham Forest are set to visit Anfield this Saturday for a 3pm kick-off against Liverpool, as they aim to build on their recent 3-1 victory over Leeds United. This win marked their second Premier League triumph of the season and the first under new head coach Sean Dyche. Despite remaining in the relegation zone, Forest have narrowed the gap on the teams above them, trailing 17th-placed Burnley by just one point. Meanwhile, Liverpool are dealing with their own injury challenges ahead of the match.
Arne Slot said: “Alisson trained last week and this week so he will be able to play, if things work out today. But we do have some issues after the international break. Conor Bradley is unable to play, Florian Wirtz unable to play. That is far from ideal.”
Slot added: “Both muscle issues. Florian maybe should not be that long. Jeremie (Frimpong) is out just as long, won’t be available in the next few weeks.”
Liverpool manager Arne Slot confirmed that both Florian Wirtz and Conor Bradley will miss the upcoming fixture due to muscle injuries. This leaves Liverpool without a natural right-back, prompting Slot to consider alternative options such as Dominik Szoboszlai or Curtis Jones for the role. Joe Gomez is another potential candidate, though his recent workload raises concerns about his availability for multiple matches in quick succession. Slot acknowledged the need for flexibility in player positions, highlighting Dominik Szoboszlai’s versatility as a key asset.
Slot said: “Dominik is playing very well in all positions. Joe Gomez has played two times 90 minutes in 2025 so if we want to keep him available longer it’s maybe a risk to play him seven times in 22 days. He missed training yesterday but we are expecting him to train today. Maybe one or two players have to play in positions they normally won’t do.”
On the other hand, Nottingham Forest are also grappling with injury setbacks. Callum Hudson-Odoi is anticipated to return from a dead leg, while Chris Wood has a chance of recovering from a knee issue. However, several players remain sidelined, including Oleksandr Zinchenko (groin), Douglas Luiz (hamstring), and long-term absentees such as Ola Aina (hamstring) and Aaron Bott (unknown). Additionally, Dilane Bakwa and Angus Gunn are also unavailable due to undisclosed injuries.
The match promises to be a challenging encounter for both teams, with Liverpool looking to navigate their defensive gaps and Forest aiming to capitalize on their recent momentum. As both sides contend with their respective injury concerns, strategic adjustments and player versatility will be crucial in determining the outcome of this Premier League clash.
